Retired after 37 years as a British Airways 747-400 Captain. As a pilot with BA he was responsible for the training and examination of airline pilots, both in the simulator and on the aircraft. Two of his boys attended Pitsford School. Mr Tait is a Chairman of the Governing Committee and he is a member of the governors’ Education & Personnel Committee. James Brown was one of Pitsford School’s founding pupils. He left Pitsford School in 1996 after completing A-levels in Economics, French, Maths and General Studies. James went on to study International Business with French at Northumbria University and is now a Director at Daro Furniture, a UK brand specialising in Indoor and Outdoor Woven Furniture, based in Northampton.
James Brown is a Member of the governors’ Education & Personnel committee and is Chairman of the Marketing Committee. James has two children in the Junior school.
Martin’s career has been concerned with higher education policy and management, culminating as Rector of the University of Northampton (formerly Nene College).
On retirement from Northampton, he was appointed Director of St George’s House, Windsor Castle. He now serves on a number of boards, and bodies concerned with higher and further education, and undertakes education consultancies. He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Educators in 2016-17. Living in Kettering, he has various commitments in Northamptonshire, including: serving as a Deputy Lieutenant for the County, Vice-President of the Northamptonshire Record Society, Governor of St Andrew’s Healthcare and Chairman of its Pension Fund, Trustee of the Core Theatre Corby, Chairman of CPRE (North Northants), and Ambassador for Tresham College.
My son joined Squirrels in 2002 when my family moved to Northamptonshire from North Yorkshire, and he has since now progressed through the school and has gone onto University. I am a dental surgeon with a background in the care of adults and children with a variety of special needs, and I currently work in a local psychiatric hospital.
I joined the School’s governing body in 2013 and my particular areas of interest are Safeguarding and Health & Safety.

He now works for the Royal School of Church Music as co-ordinator for the south of England and is an organist and choir director at a church in Northampton.
