Rugby U15 V Perse School B

12th October 2017

The under 15s strung together some of their best ever performances against Perse School’s B XV yesterday.

The game kicked off and immediately saw the Perse on the attack, with Pitsford completely unable to touch the ball for the first 5 or 10 minutes of the game. This usually would have spelt trouble but, thanks to recent practice, a very solid defence line met the onslaught capably.

The Perse were the first to make their mark on the score sheet, with a very strong run, eventually breaking a tackle.

Pitsford’s Tyler S was first to answer back for Pitsford, with an outrageous dummy and racing through to the line. Pitsford seemed to build a bit of confidence as they settled into the game and were able to execute several training park moves. At half time, the score finished at 20-12 with Pitsford ahead by an 8 point margin.

The next 20 minutes saw a thrilling bout, where the Perse came back to now be losing by just one point, 24-24.

One particular highlight of the game was our debutant, Noah S, with a wonderful performance now running and tackling with confidence as he settled into the game, after some initial nervousness.

The Pitsford side seemed to be on top at the breakdown with some effective rucking - which could explain why they were just edging the contest.

Then, a Jayden B break, among several other powerful runs of his saw him score from distance. Unfortunately the conversion was missed, setting up for a worrying final 10 minutes with just a 6 point lead.

Pitsford somewhat rose to the challenge and scored 3 final tries, with fantastic fluency and then sealing the result. At the heart of this was Lewis G who was stringing together another majestic personal performance.

Final score 51 - 24 (the final three tries somewhat skewing the result, which was otherwise a fairly close game).

Scorer - Jayden B (3), Tyler S (4), Matt L (2)

Man of the Match - Entire Team ( I could not possibly pick out any one individual in this game, with everyone playing an intrinsic part of the victory).
