The side were somewhat underwhelmed for the first time this season in the first half of the game - perhaps two weeks of developmental games (and half time break) had taken the wheels off the previous steam train that was rolling forward!
Some questionable tracking in the first half and an uncharacteristic ability to move the ball in attack soon saw the Pitsford side 3 tries down albeit against a very classy outfit. The Oratory were playing some delightful rugby, but in watching this the Pitsford side failed to exert their usual level of pressure.
The second half however was a much better display and Pitsford now were making it much more difficult to Oratory, but their pressure and skilful play told as they crossed for a 20-0 advantage.
Next up John A sparked a Pitsford comeback with a barnstorming run, trundling his way some 60 metres down field. Pitsford failed to capitalise on this momentum with a turnover close to the Oratory line, but the clearance kick was fielded directly to Fabian P who from full back raced around the Oratory side to touch down in the corner.
This seemed to spark the Pitsford side and next up Elliott P crashed through and wasn’t being caught as he added another 20-10.
Again though Oratory showed their class and moved the ball well to again stretch Pitsford crossing for a last try.
Final score: 25-10
Man of the Match: Joel H - he kept up a textbook tackle technique throughout the game.
