Pitsford School Speech Day 2015

Pitsford School’s 26th Speech Day took place on Tuesday 07 July. This year’s guest of honour was Mr David Laing, the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire.

Speech Day celebrated the efforts and achievements of all the pupils at Pitsford School emphasising the School’s motto of Opportunity, Excellence and Understanding.

Following a welcome by Mr Alisdair Tait, Chairman of Governors, the Headmaster, Mr Noel Toone, gave a summary of achievements over the last academic year including the fact that the School was ranked 6th on National Value Added A-Level League Table meaning it is the best performing independent co-educational school in Northamptonshire. Head of Sixth Form, Miss Sara Jackson, oversaw the Prefect Handover after which Sudha Pathak was confirmed as Head Girl and Isaac Hamlyn as Head Boy.

The audience was then treated to a musical interlude before the presentation of prizes. Alexandra Smith gave a breathtakingly beautiful rendition of “Over The Rainbow”. David Shortland performed “Duo” whilst Alexandra Crook played Mozart’s “Concerto in D” before the sound of the School choir singing “Don’t Stop Believing” resonated in the hall.

Prizes were then presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire who commented: “This has been a brilliant year for Pitsford School with a fantastic array of prizewinners. Listening to “Over the Rainbow” made me think about moving on and how well prepared Pitsford School pupils will be. The School gives you a foundation and it’s up to each and every one of you to plan your life. Preparation, planning and homework will stand you in good stead! Remember not to judge things by first impressions; take another look. Everyone can contribute in their own way. Trust yourself because you can all achieve something.

“Pitsford School is a wonderful school. It provides opportunities to give all you can, and also to get all you can, out of life. Finally, in the words of the School choir, “Don’t Stop Believing” - keep going.”

This was the last school event to take place in the sports hall before work starts on the School’s new £2 million state-of-the-art Sports Complex.

Pitsford School’s next Open Day will take place on Saturday 03 October between 10.30am and 1.00pm. Please contact the School for more information.
