After the success at the regional ISA Athletics a couple of weeks ago our intrepid Athletes set off for Birmingham with high hopes – even if the weather forecast was less promising. Once again our pupils did us proud with some outstanding performances in their sports.
In the 1500m Lewis ran an amazing race, coming home 3rd, with a shiny bronze medal and a podium place under his belt. In the High Jump he was a little less fortunate and it was only by the smallest of margins that Lewis missed out on another medal. A little more experience is sure to have a huge impact on Lewis’s High Jump and a medal is well within reach for next time. Both Molly and Elliot competed in the Hurdles and Long Jump respectively and despite strong performances it was just not their day and they finished just outside the medals.
Like a major athletics meet, the 100m proved to be the headline act with Fabian treating us to some exceptional running. To qualify for this race Fabian had already made his mark by running an impressive PB of 11.7 earlier in June. Therefore there was a quiet confidence that he would do well in the race …. however we were all thrilled when he smashed his previous PB. Fabian ran an amazing 11.48, claiming victory and of course the Gold medal, which it should be noted, is his 9th Gold medal representing Pitsford and the Midlands! What a time and what a run. Great work Fabian.
It is always a pleasure taking our pupils to compete in Athletics meets and tournaments as they approach it all with such a positive attitude and a desire to be their best. Coming home with the medal is simply the icing on the cake! Well done to everyone who has participated at both regional and national level, we may only be a small school but you all definitely know how to make an impact in the Athletics arena. Well Done.
